Since my '92 EB has taken on an ever-increasing bearing knock in the crank area, and my A4LD's tranny is giving me fits, I've decided to embark on a rebuild adventure. The interior and exterior is in too good of condition to just get rid of it. For $200.00, I've acquired the engine (4.0L pushrod) and tranny (A4LD) from a buddy's '91, and should have them pulled in the next few days.
My intent is to put the new tranny (buddy says it was running good and strong up to the day he parked the rig -- the tranny, not the engine) in mine within the next couple weeks, and then begin rebuilding the donor engine. I'm not after a high-performance truck, and I only want to do this ONCE!
So.....any thoughts/suggestions as to which parts should be upgraded vs. OEM-spec'd ? The budget is tight, but I also don't want crap parts.
Thanks!
