89 Bronco II
Hi. My guy had picked up a blue 89 Bronco II with 77K miles. His intention was to strip the grey one he had, also an 89, and get the blue one running. It was a project of his that I paid no attention to But I'd go riding with him when it was done. He died unexpectedly. I want to get rid of the pair and I'm getting asked details about the vehicle and why it isn't running. I have no clue. I'm looking for some guidance here. Do I just say I don't know why it isn't running or what he was working on. I tried jumping it and it's not the battery. I really don't want to become a mechanic to sell these. The local 4x4 shop recommended selling them as a pair; one to run, one for parts. They suggested $1500 for both. I need some realistic opinions here. I appreciate your help

im really sorry for your loss. so neither of the 2 run? if thats the case we are all going to need details on what happens when you try to start them, does it just turn over and over, does it fire and then die? those are the kinds of details we are going to need to establish whats wrong. So try to start it again and pay attention to the noise the engine makes when you turn it over, good luck.

Thanks for getting back to me j anderson. These broncos can give somebody else some fun. Yeah, it's been a ***** without him, thanks for the condolences. I had a young guy who works in automotive come in and look at them. The starter is out of the Blue one - der - why it wouldn't turn over. We tried to jump it and nothing happened. he said he needed to trace the electrical but I did not want to pay for that. I can take pics of the engine from top or bottom is u want. I'd rather somebody use them than I take them in for scrap.

Sorry to hear about your loss also.

I would put up an ad that says something to the effect of:

Two 1989 Ford Bronco II 4x4s. One has 77K miles, the other has __K miles. Mechanical condition is unknown (unable to start it, has no starter), but the exteriors are in ______ shape and interiors are in _______ shape and all parts appear to be there/missing. Death forces sale, A great project for someone willing to take it over. $____OBO for both as is.

Obviously you'd word the ad to fit your situation best, and lots of detailed pictures inside & out would be extremely helpful to whoever's looking at the ad. Be sure to include whether you have the titles for each one also.

$1500 sounds like a good asking price if they are in real nice shape inside & out (paint in good condition, no dents, rust, tears, stains, etc) and are mostly complete. If they have a lot of rust perforation or are otherwise pretty beat up/missing a lot of stuff, then I wouldn't expect to get much over $500 for them.

Hope that helps. Good luck with it.

You are awesome

I want to thank you for the wording and the guidelines you gave me. They are now sold as a pair for $800. I'm hoping they can get the blue one running. There's an old saying that what goes around comes around... thank you for your great guidelines

To janderson4010 and 4x4 junkie. Thanks for reaching out to me and helping me with the assessment of Mike's Broncos. Without sounding wussy, you both were real kind to do it. Your kindness will be repaid to you threefold... thank you.
