Advice needed: sell explorer for ranger?

hey guys i have the chance to buy my dads 96 ranger off of him with 85,000 miles on it, it has some straches cuz it was a work truck. but other than that its in really nice condition. for 4,500?

should i stick with my 92 xlt with 116,000 miles on it and i still owe like 2,900 on it....but could get 4,500 from it , have been offered by my friend.

advice is needed on this i'm stumped

what engine does it have? what trans? is it 4WD?
