after wheeling cleaning.. tips needed.

ok.. this is kind of a general question. after you guys get back from a good wheelin trip.. how do you clean your vehicle. i'm talking about the engine compartment and the underside mainly. i find that it is difficult to clean all up underneath and in the cracks and crevices and stuff. just looking for tips because i noticed the other day when i was under the vehicle checking some things out that there is still dried mud in places that seem to never get clean.

i normally use a small pressure washer from work that i take home and spay all underneath with it. anyone use ramps or anything to get a little more room to crawl around underneath? it just seems like it never gets clean and then i see pics of the underside of some vehicles on here that are so clean! should i use chemicals also? i've only used good ole water in the past.

After it rains i try and drive through the pudles on the side of the road... i dunno if it cleans out the under carriage or not but its fun.

bar none, this is the best way ive found so far. set a garden sprinkler under it. on my early bronc, i use a fan-type sprinkler and just slide it under the front. turn it down fairly low, and leave it for about 30 minutes. then, move it to the back and repeat. obviously, you dont want to do this in the driveway. any mud that is left caked on (there wont be much if any) can be quickly blasted off with a spray nozzle, as the sprinkler by this time has soaked all the way through the clumps.

A friend of mine did the same thing. I was thinking of using one of those traveling sprinklers to clean my truck but i think its to big to fit under. Once i get my 33s on i think itll work.

yea, just make sure you dont do it in the driveway. usually it will leave a giant mud clump in the outline of the vehicle. dont do it in the yard, either, as you could imagine what it would look like. i do mine in the back yard, as its privacy fence and if its ugly i dont care (maybe the mud will help fill the holes the dogs dig). do it in the front yard, and your property value will proly drop 25%.
