Trying to replace Air Bag Module "F67F-14B215-AC UPN105/6" Dated 06/03/97 with extra info 59LTT 3. I am unsure if I can use a different module from a different year vehicle in place of the one that was previously installed.

Searched; very little information available. All what I did find was that the later 98 bodies have additional sensors, so I'm assuming 98 is out of the question but this thread is here for you to correct that should you wish and ty in advance.

What modules are cross compatible for the air bag system? Talking about the so-named "Air Bag Module," blue box in the right passenger kick panel area.
I have a 97 I am looking for 97 modules, naturally they are not easy to find for just one year of the Explorer model.
Can I use a 98 module in a 97? Can I use a 96 module in a 97? 95? Etc.

I cannot assume cross-compatibility since some models had different air bag configurations from others; however, I would generally recommend looking for the ones with exactly the same connectors as yours. It is possible, although I CANNOT BE CERTAIN of this, that a module with "empty" sockets (to control air bags with which your model may not be equipped) could still function; it might mess with the GEM and/or disable the air bags, and give associated dash board warnings, or it could cause undesired operation which could be dangerous or fatal.

Short answer is I don't know. A bit of time to research and I'll be back.

I have no experience with myairbags.com, but they have this same part number listed as being used in 1996, 1997, and 1998. ebay.com (which I definitely do not trust) also lists the part for those same model years. Besides those two sources, I can't find a word spoken about this part, not even fordpartsgiant.com knows what it is.

HAHA, yeah... Saw the same listing.. I also don't trust it worth a damn. Ugh. I know right? Scoured the internet for at least 5 hours trying to find anything. Thank you for your help though!! Even though it isn't conclusive, it's more insight and it makes me feel less dumb not just going and getting whatever may fit despite if it works or not.

@metalxface You also live on the Coast of Easts, yes? Perhaps I can find one at a local yard and depending on location, we could meet and swap or mail it to you. Not sure when I'd be able to go look, possibly to morrow or some time next week.

That would be NUTS.. I'd really appreciate it. We called local yards, recently moved to a less woodsy area and they're really useless and disorganized versus the treasure troves of South Jersey... lol
PM me!
