Air Box Removal help needed....

I need some help guys.... How do I remove the air box from my Explorer. I can get the top off and remove filter but can't seem to get the bottom off and out of the truck. Thanks.....

Yeah, I know how you feel. You can search the subject here, but just make sure all wires, clips, and screws are taken off. Then just pull like hell. I believe mine was attached on the side fenderwall and on the bottom. I tried to be careful, just in case i ever wanted to reuse it. But it shouldn't bust apart when pulling it out.

Mines older so the airbox is diff but the same thing might work. I took the stuff that wouldnt come out the top out the bottom.

Take a few screws out..whats holding the fenderwell and trim and anything below...hopefully you'll have enough space between things to pull it out. You may have to make sure you seperate any hoses or pieces that are just attached together.

Thanks guys, for all the suggestions.

I managed to get the dog =on air box removed. It is ATTACHED via 2 plastic "pins" that go into the fender wall. A simple tug will not cut the nustard. It took some majot league pulling to get the lower half of the box removed.

Anyone else doing this - be sure to pyull as hard as you can away from the fender wall.
