Hi all,

I have a 2000 model limited ford explorer with climate control. :exporange When I turn on the air con, or just the vent, it is on the hottest setting. I set the climate control to 15 degrees (coolest setting) and its still hot. Even if I leave it off I can feel the heat comming from the vent. Gets pretty warm inside the explorer. Its not like it is not working, I can hear the condenser click on and off uder the bonnet, its like its working real well - just dam hot.

Anyone have any ideas why I cant adjust the temp. Can get a bit warm on the Sunshine Coast

The compressor? If it clicks on and back off quickly you are low on refrigerant.

Otherwise it could be an issue with the blend door. It is a common problem but I'm not sure if its common to the EATC systems.

While the A/C is on, feel the evaporator under the hood ( cylinder type object close to passenger firewall) if its cold, most likely blend door problem.

Thecylinder object it actually the acumulator, the evaporator is mounted inside the case, attached to the firewall.

If the acumulator is cold. Pinch closed one of the heater lines, In max ac, the coolant shutoff valve to the heater core should close ( but does not allways close properly)

Sorry, thats what I meant, the accumalator.

Thanks all, I did a bit of searching on this site and with your suggestions I have a list to work through this week-end. Should be fun - not a lot of room to move under the bonnet since the LPG gear has been added, but the in car parts are standard.

Hi all, I found two problems, the first was a disconnected vacuum hose which meant my 'max' setting defaulted to the demist option. That was easy to fix. Then I removed the blend door acuator (fun unless you have midget fingers) I plugged the wiring back into the blend door actuator and it does not turn when you adjust the tempreture. It looks like it is not working. My only concern is that the electric motor in the blend door actuator wil work on its own when you connect wires to the battery, but not when you lug in the wiring plug and adjust the tempreture control. I am worried it might be in the climate control on the dash and not the actuator. Only problem is the only way to know is to buy a new actuator and if it does not work I am out of pocket.

Anyone have any advice on how to test the actuator.
