Help!
While my X is idling with no AC on and no blower fan on, the air conditioning motor engages/disengages every 12-15 seconds with a loud click. The click has gotten louder over the last few weeks. Is this normal and if not what should I be checking?

Thanks

its normal mine has been doing the same thing for over a year untill I unplugged it:D

Thanks 88vert,
I can deal without the AC, but when my wife rides in the X and it's hot out she has to have the AC on. So I guess I'll leave it plugged in.

Thanks for the response

You can plug it in and out no problem thats what I do but make sure it stays plugged in for the colder months:D

The compressor cycles because it's low on freon. There's a sensor to tell the compressor to turn off if the freon is low so it won't burn out the compressor. I have a slow leak in mine and that's my signal that I need to refill it. I really need to get it down to the shop and see where the leak is. With other vehicles I've had, A/C work is always expensive, and a $6 can of R134a every few months is usually cheaper in the long run...

I dont think my 92 is the same as your 97 my air kicks ass.But it makes that annoying cliking noise,so I just unplug it,never hurt mine and I have been doing it for 4 years:D
