Hello...

I have recently bought a Ford Explorer 1995 limited edition, it has an air ride
system which is having some problem as my car's computer prompting me to check the air ride system every time i start the car. I have had the tires changed just after purchasing this car and i think that this triggers the air ride system to go wrong.

Can anybody help me with this, i am also having problems with my car battery as it got drained because i forgot to turn of the light inside the car and now it looks like the battery is not getting charged up, is there any link b/w the air ride system and charging?

Kindly help by replying back.

Thanks
Faisal

Is the ARC switch turned on? Any servicing of the truck that includes letting the suspension hang(tires not supported), that requires turning off the ARC. If the switch is off, then the ARC does nothing and the error light will be on full time.

The ARC takes a lot of juice, if there was a leak then it would run occasionally, and that takes power from the battery.

Check the voltage of the battery, when cold, and while running. Cold it should be 12 volts or more, running with little else will be 13.5 volts or more. If not then the battery or alternator is lacking.

Find the time to climb under to the shocks with a lubricant like PB Blaster or WD40. Spray the connections of any plastic air line you find for the ARC system. Those joints are where most leaks happen. That and the rubber bladders of the shocks, spray those also. Over time they wear from abrasion and will leak, which ruins the shock. Keep them clean, and a rubber product can help too as mentioned. Regards,

What if I want to Disable the AIR shocks and be normal?

I have a 95 limited with an air ride system. I want to go with regular shocks. What do I have to remove the air ride completely?:thumbdwn:
Thanks
