Hi I have an 04 Ford Explorer, and when I turn my air temp. control all the way to cold it works fine. As soon as I turn it 1 line towards the heat a loud clicking noise starts coming from behind the dials. I have two questions first is what do you think it is? The second is how do I take the panel off to get to the servo or what ever controls the hot/cold temp. Any advice would be great thank you. Mike

I'd take the trim panel off and try to see what I could see. We do use a heater control valve so it's vacuum operated.

how do I get that panel off? it looks like it just pops off, but i don't want to break it. (it is the carbon fibre looking plastic)

You are gonna need a new Blend Door Actuator. Search this forum for "blend door actuator replacement". There is a long thread in here that has pictures and instructions and part number that will be a big help to you. You're lucky the actuator broke with the door on the ac side.

I think it just snaps in place, you have to be careful.
