Hi all

I just bought a 2004 Explorer XLT with 30k.a few days after I bought it the airbag light flashes and stays on.I looked through the forums and found someone else with the same code "19".It turned out being a bad clockspring.I do have a clicking noise in the steeriing colum when I turn it.Sounds like the place to look.My question is, the warranty fot the restraint system in 5yrs 50k.Will Ford fix it free under warranty?

thanks

I bought it on ebay "as is"Today the cruse and horn quit working .I am falily certian it in the clockspring.I called a Ford dealer to ask them if it would be covered under the 5yr 50k restraint warranty. They said they would hook it up to there dianostic machine to find the problem. If it showed it was damaged by any thing other that a factory defect that I would have to pay for the dianostic time and the repair.Since I know for sure the clockspring is bad I may just change that first.I would like to have Ford pay for the replacment , but am afraid they will find an excuse not to pay for it.Also I tried to find an aftermarket clockspring and haven found one yet.Is thts a dealer item only?

got my new clockspring from fastpartsnetwork as brooklynbay sugested. It came fast and was only $56.35 with shipping. it is about 1/2 of what the dealer gets for this part.I installed it today, took about 2 hrs , taking my time.My air bag light is now out and my horn and cruse work again!!!!!

no I did not.If you or any one else needs some guidance Ill be glad to help them.
