My car was recently in accident, I had front end damage but the airbag did not deploy. After I got it back, sometimes when I start the car, the airbag light comes on. I can usually make it go out by starting it again. I really don't want the body shop to touch it again, they took too long and didn't that great a job fitting the body parts together. I made a bad choice in body shops but does anyone know where I would start to troubleshoot this problem?

Before you restart it, does it blink? Count the blinks. If it was in a frontal collision and didn't blow the bags I'll bet the issue is with the front crash sensors. Improper mounting can cause problems. May be as simple as a bad/rusty mounting surface or bad connection at the plug.

Items #4 are the sensors, #5 the electrical plug.

the air bags dont need to go off to be a problem count the flash out code like stated it may be a seat belt pretensioner or an air bag monitor even if no air bag deployed

The indicator does not blink, it just stays lit. Sometimes it goes out by itself but most of the time I have to restart the engine.

Silly me for not doing a search first, thinking my problem was so unique. Folks are saying "replace the battery". Well, low and behold, my car wouldn't start tonight because of weak battery! I ran over to the Walmart but they didn't have a MAXX 65N in stock so I'll have to wait till morning. I'll let you all know if that fixes the problem.

Definitely battery concern, we see all the time at the dealership, not enough voltage on startup will set an ocs error code.

Yes, the new battery did the trick!

Thanks everyone!
