Airbag light

MONMIX said:
Al, I would love to know that my self :)
I have been 10 months since I have had to do that on mine.
Static or dust would be my two best guesses.
something conductive between the two terminals

Thanks for the help, my friend. Saved me a dealer stop....

No problem, you save me a trip to the tranny shop.
I love how this site works :)

Yup, there a few that really go out of the way to help, and you are one of those.

UPDATE

On a recent road trip to Atlanta, on the first leg, the damn Airbag Ligh decided to illuminate ( again ).

After arriving in Atlanta, I unplugged the infamous yellow connector and gave it a good blow ( again ), plugged it back in and no Airbag Light returned.

I hope it stays "fixed" longer this time.

Thanks again to my friend, MONMIX, for this fix.

I wish I knew what was taking place so I could think of a solution or a way to avoid its return.
It has been a year,,,, almost since mine, no return.
I didn't even scan mine back then I was camping and was 300 miles away from my reader.

The damn light illuminated again. I reckon the ******* trick isn't gonna work.....

:(
I wish I could help further.

i have the same idiot light that you had/will have aldive.
i saw this thread a few days ago, and looked at the plug while i was out and about.
i yanked on it for a min, but didnt get anywhere.
is mine stuck, or am i not unplugging it correctly.
sorry for the goofy question, but im not small, and i cannot easily see underneath the seat to figure out the plug.
should i just yank on the ends harder?
i didnt want to break if it had a clip that i could not see.
i would just love to get that bright orange light to go off !

You should see just a wire with a conector. Where the wire goes is non issue.
It is just the end you need to deal with.
If it is still clipped to the seat I am 90% positive the clip pulls off sideways toward the rear of the vehicle.
Once you have it free, pull the cap off, a few puffs put the cap back on and it should clear.
If you are lucky it will stay gone.
( sorry Al )

my light went off after i unplugged the yellow plug under the drivers seat ! !
has been a week and no sign of it returning anytime soon. :)

you guys have been very helpful.
there are so many more things i would like to ask al about his explorer.

how do you like the mac intake monmix? any regrets on your choice?

Nope. That MAC intake is so georgous. The addition of the Pro-M MAS is noticable too.

Glad to be of help.

I tried the old ******** trick again the other day. Day 3 and the light is still off.

My guess would be warpage of the plastic casing and every now and then it shifts and makes wrong contacts.

I wonder if dielectric grease on the contacts would help.

Yes, I am reaching.....

Another day - so far so good.

Was it the end with the contacts or the "cap" that you blow on?

I blew where the wire was.
I am just about at the one year point since my bag light came on.
Maybe it was my breath ?
Maybe I have anti-air bag breath.
It is a mystery to me Al. Try the dilaectric. What is it going to hurt ?

Did the blow trick prior to a 500 mile trip. No light... thought I was home free, then the damn thing illuminated again on the return trip. I left it alone and about 300 miles into the trip it went out and has not re illuminated.

Well, I am still experiencing the damn airbag light illuminating and flashing the 3 7 code. The blow truck no longer works at all.

Does anyone know exactly what the 3 7 code signifies?

HELP ............

hey al, sorry to hear about your troubles.
that light is ugly as hell.
mine came back on today...
its been raining for days here, and im almost thinkin this could be moisture/humidity related. thats my best guess -based on almost nothing.
the humidity in florida is prolly pretty close to what we have here.
in the slight chance im correct, i still wouldnt know how to prevent it.
im going to puff on my yellow plug in the morning when i wont get all wet.

Air bag lights will not flash a code they need to be retrieved.
:)

MONMIX, are you sure that this is what you wanted to say? In general, i thought airbag codes are flashed 3-4 times upon startup. I would assume that if the light does not stay lit, as in Al's case, you would need to retrieve the code thrown, but in most cases, the light will, indeed, flash a series. They may not be clearable by the driver, but surely they are obtainable.

I noticed a few on the site have "fixed" their #37 problem by the ******* you prescribed. Not many have followed up if it came back, though.
