Airbag light

Thanks for the reply. The clicking is not the turn signal. I do know the difference. ;)
I should have clarified though, it's not just when I'm turning a sharp corner, it's any time I turn the steering wheel even slightly. If I'm backing up, turning or just rounding a slight bend in the road. It's not so much a clicking but more like a creaking noise (like an old step or rocking chair).

There was a truck I was going to buy here a few months ago, that had the same noise only louder and with a thump. It turned out that it was a bad steering knuckle and a bad front axel. ( I didn't buy the truck). My dad also had to replace the knuckle in his vehicle, so I know mine's probably next.

I just didn't know what the clock spring was or if it had anything to do with my airbag light coming on. My light still flashes 3 & 7, so i'm going to try the air trick with the connector under the passenger seat.

Thanks for the info though.:D

airbag code 37

I'm new to this!!! My light was doing the 37 code (the unplugging and replugging,BJ,etc I don't think is the problem) I was getting the code switched the resistors, went away a little while an then came back.I pulled the pass seat out so I could get to the wires better. What I found after doing an OHM test on the wiring between the yellow plug and the (brain)pass side kick panel 01 4dr 4x4 xlt, the front plug, middle two socket(bat disconeted ALL unplugged!!!) I found that I had A broken wire about a 1/8 to a1/4 inch from the yellow plug .not visible the insulation was fine!! Pull on the wires if the insulation stretches the wire is likely broke inside

airbag code 37

I was wondering if anybodys engine died when this code came on (say around 92-95 degrees)

Got a 99 sport, if I remember correctly its two blinks, pause, three blinks repeat, for wuite some time then it stays on. the only plugs I have on mine is a single plug under the driver seat for the belt holder

code 34

Hey dyaco57...did you ever find out how to fix your code 34 problem...trying to work it out from over here in New Zealand!!

sorry no.
Mine seems to be a drivers side airbag/safing sensor? (CODE CHART ON PAGE 15 OF THIS THREAD).never got a reply on how to about fixing it.I've just been living with it staying on. If you figure somthing out let me know.

Code 34 is either the driver side airbag problem or clockspring problem. 99% of the time the clockspring is bad.

I failed my warrant of fitness here because of it...took it to the local auto electrical and he said "he has dealt with this prob before"...not surprising after reading 16 odd pages of flashing airbag codes on this site!! He said "that its not always a fault with the actual airbag itself but a failure in the connector and or wires under the seat...due to being moved forward and back/up and down...and he would check all the wires for me"!! My partner had a good look over the weekend and low and behold the bloomin think has stopped flashing...but for "how long"...raced car into VTNZ and got me WOF...but will be taking it back to TGA auto electrical if it starts up again!! Will keep you posted!!

Ummmm whats a clockspring??? and where is it?? Thanx swetrid

The clock spring is the part in the steering wheel which transmits the electrical signals(horn/cruise, etc) from the spinning wheel to the immovable column. It's parts are very delicate and easily damaged by handling. The steering wheel airbag signals go through it.

I have an 02 EB and mine is flashing then staying on every so often. I guess next time it happens I need to see how many times it is blinking to get a code. I am no where near technical enough to do any oh this ohm testing you speak of. I will let you know the code next time it happens, thanks for the info I have read so far.....

Ok, so mine did it again today. It is not everytime but most of the time. It blinks a 51 according to the chart someone posted it means

51 Diagnostic Monitor Internal Thermal Fuse - Blown and Short to Ground No Longer Exists

How do I fix this?

Thank you for the fast response, where and how do I get to the airbag module on a 2002 EB?

Well, it is a plastic box with 2 plugs going into it. How would you change a fuse in that?

I've done the same thing with a Chrysler Sebring convertable and a Caddy. I don't even disconnect them, I just squeeze them together tighter. Maybe they get a little loose from vibration?

The airbag module in an 02 would be under the ducting in the centre console, unless it is a sport.

Would you know where to find the airbag module on a 2007 Explorer, or where I might find this info?
