Ok....no problems....I sucessfully installed an alarm, remote start, etc. I found wiring diagrams; it was easy.

However, I have the alarm outputting to both the supplied siren and the cars horn. I tapped onto the horn wire in the steering column on my 96', but as it is rigged now, it just blares continuously...very annoying...sounds like a pileup!

Anyways, I was wondering if anybody could direct me to the altenating horn honk wire/control unit that the panic button and factory alarm (the unlock button with the window down thing) output to so i can tap this some how.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure how to help you out, but I am wondering where you got the wiring diagrams and what year is your exp?
Specifically trouble with tach wire, but want to dbl check the rest.

Thanks

Lee

i found the diagrams on the12volt.com site under (you guessed it) "diagrams." I found the tach on the passenger kick panel. Mine is a 96 like the post said, but if you find the any factory security info for your year, please post it. At this point I'm willing to check all the wires coming off the security unit, but I haven't really looked into finding it (any ideas on the location?) Best of Luck.

Well the reason it does this is because all the horn is being told to do is blare. What you need to do is find some for of signal interrupter. Im sure if you do a search on the internet, or even go to the local autoparts store you can find some sort of device to interrupt the signal, giving you the honking noise.

Or, if you want to get creative, and if you have your parking lights flash when your alarm goes off you can do this, but ONLY if your parking lights are hooked up...Ok, your parking lights flash with intervals correct? Well, you can use this to your advantage. By buying a simple relay, 5 bucks at an audio shop, you can make your horn work. First, you would tap into the wire that goes from your alarm to your parking lights. Here you will branch off a line that goes to the relay. What the relay does is when given an electrical signal(the alarm telling the parking lights to flash) it flips a little internal switch and allows something else to trigger. Well, if you wire the relay in between the parking lights and the alarm, and then use another pin to go to the horn, everytime the parking lights go on and off, the horn will go on and off. Relays have 5 pins, i think they are 30, 87, 87a, 86, and 85. If you decide to do this, simply reply to this message, or Beastb15@aol.com and I will help you.

I have been wanting to put one in too. i would prefer to do it myself having done them before, but i was wondering what if any kinds of problems you have with the factory alarm (horn) system that was in there?

Also I would like some feedback on what type of alarm to get to have these features (some added after install):

Remote Start
Keyless Entry
Perimeter (the two level type one for being close one for being in)
Window controll

Well guys?

No problems, just don't forget to wire the factory disarm to the ford unit. Even if you think it doesn't have one....IT does. I hooked up my whole system, the remote start worked perfectly without wiring the factory disarm, so i figured that i would just leave it unattached. I soon found out the error of my ways. I got in my car to drive to school on a monday (i installed it on sunday) and turned the key to on.......the factory system started blaring!!!! Anyways, don't be a lazy bum like me, and be sure to wire it up properly!!!!
I got a crimestopper CS2001RS (remote start & keyless builtin), a microwave addon, and a window rollup module ($120). However, I wouldn't recommend it, because the microwave doesn't work and the shock sensor would take a 10 car pileup to go off. Also, I think the part that monitors the Tach just crapped out cause the remote start is not working right any more. From my experience i would recommend that you cough up an extra hundred and buy a more mainstream brand.
