Alarming keypad issue!?!?

Ok, so just today my 11 year old nephew unlocked the X's doors via the keypad. I asked him how he knew the code and he said he just pushed 1,2,3,4,5,6 and the doors unlocked... Well sure enough, I tried the same and unlock they did. This keypad has saved me a million times when I have locked myself out of my truck, I don't want to disable it by cutting the ground wire. I have no idea what to do to resolve this HUGE issue!?!??!?!?!?

Any suggestions?

is that a custom code? or the factory code? its possible that was programmed in by another user....

Have you owned it since new? If not, someone probably custom programmed it with that. Override it.

that is definately not the factory code...

Alec, how do I overwrite it? I wasn't aware that you could add codes to it.. I was under the impression that you used only the factory code and if you needed to change your code you'd have to get a new module?

Ok... I only have like 3 service manuals and not an owners manuals. Looking like I need info from an owners manual seeing as how there isn't a thing in the service manuals that i have.

would anyone be willing to take a look in their manuals for me so I can figure out how to overwrite is?

Okay, here is what you need too do.
Enter the factory code.

With in 5 seconda press the 1-2 button.

Enter your 5 digit personal code. You must enter each digit with in 5 seconds of each other.

The doors will then lock and unlock to confirm your personal code has been programed.

These keypads first came out in 1980. The code use too be on a sticker on the bottom of the trunk deck. It has always been possible to change to your own presonal code. By entering your own, you will erase the other one in there. But it will still retain the factory code.
