Any thoughts? :( I was driving and all was fine until I noticed something strange with my temp gauge and I wasn't getting much heat. Thought maybe waterpump. Had to park it for two days and when I went to check it out, no coolant in jug or radiator and a off white thick goo on the dipstick. (it has been in the single digits around here) I had just checked the coolant and was good to 40 below. I had just installed new valve cover and upper intake gaskets but I don't recall any water passages. Just thought I would toss this in here to see what anyone might say. I will most likely just swap in another motor I have instead of trying to find out what went wrong and then cleaning this engine out. :feedback:

Could be the lower intake came loose or a cracked head..

That is what I am thinking too. Figures, after I spent almost a $100 on new gaskets and the day replacing them. well at least I am practiced in upper end removal.
:(

Try and reTQ the lower manifold.sometimes they come loose, I always check them after some miles or heat cycles.

Any tips on what to use to flush the oil passages? I was thinking about kerosene or #2 fuel oil.

If you have a way to spin the pump that would be ideal. That water will eat your bearings up if alot is in it

Swapping out the engine, worried about all the water in the oil and the damage it has or will cause and I plan on driving this beast for a while longer yet.

I don't think he meant flushing the passages in the vehicle. He already mentioned his intent to swap motors with one he already has and then fixing this one.

I'm **** when cleaning oil passages with white crap in them. You have a mix of polar and non polar fluids and kerosene is only polar. If it was me I'd take the whole motor down and blast as much air into every oil hole as needed before using the kerosene. The money lost in gaskets and bearings isn't as bad as it could get trying to be cheap or lazy. But from your eagerness to pull the motor you seen to be willing to do it right.

Could also be your timing cover gasket, although it sounds pretty severe for that.

The engine is now a yard decoration. I replaced it with one from a donor I have and it has less miles too. Thanks for the replys
