`alot of noise from tranny

the past week i've been getting alot of chunking niose from the tranny when the the truck is sitting still and idling. any ideas to what it could be? i'd want to try to get it fixed before something serious happens. the tranny shifts fine went going and acts normal when going down the road.

Noises like that are not good. Much as I hate to say it, I suspect if you want to save it from total destruction, you might want to remove it and rebuild it now. I am trying to think why you might get noise in neutral or park and not anywhere else, and don;t come up with much... I'm gonna guess you have metal in the pan. Have you checked ? I know this is not what you wanted to hear....sorry.
