Alpine CD problems

A little over a year ago I bought an Alpine CDA-9811 from my local Tweeter... the warranty from both the store and the manufacturer expired at the one year mark. As if programmed to fail just out of warranty, now the deck won't play CD's... the CD goes in, but won't play. For about a week it would randomly start playing, but now it has quit altogether. The AM/FM still works great, but I'm going crazy at my new job (delivering pizzas) without being able to listen to my CD's...

I've heard that getting the deck fixed could cost about the same as a new unit, but since I'm not sure whats wrong I don't wanna spend the $$ just yet. Has anyone had a similar problem with any of their decks? Could the intermittant playing be a dirty lens? If so, how could I clean it? Thanks in advance!

Have you tried posting your problem on the alpine web site?
Might just be dirty like you said. Did you through in a cleaning disk?
