07 ranger fx4 level II. was driving yesterday, and noticed my battery light on, but it only came on for a second, then went off. when further down the road, and it came on again, looked down at my scan gauge, it was reading 16v (normally it reads around 14.1v), but once again, as fast as it went on, it went off. about 1 min later, it came back on, this time my ABS, E brake, and air bag light went on. gauge was reading 17v. once again, it shut off. about a min later, it came back on, once again, bringing the e brake light, and if i am not wrong, my fuel gauge reading empty, scan gauge reading 15v. i have noticed a few times lately my amp for the sub (both alpine, amp wired to battery with in line fuse) sometimes will cut out, but turn back on a few seconds later. will a internal regulator in the alt fail, causing things to over charge, or is there bigger problems. i called the ford dealer that sold it to me back in oct. (a friend of mine sold it to me) and asked him to look into the maintenance history of it, and it has never had any electrical problems, and has no outstanding re calls.

whoops, i almost forgot. the things i have added electricity to the truck just after i bought it about 9 months ago are, stereo, amp, sub, over head console from a explorer, scan gauge, heated seat kit (both where off) and a sct tuner. this all happened about 4 times within a 10-15 min trip to a friends place, and once coming back (7 hours later).

Sounds like it has a bad regulator which is internal to the alternator.
