I recently had to have my alternator replaced and have had CRAPLOADS of issues since they replaced it. After they replaced it, the oil gauge would jump to Low, then would read normal, and would do that everytime I accelerated. The car eventually (like the next day) started to get the OHV tick, so I spazzed out and got the oil changed. Ever since the oil was changed, the oil gauge reads very random, one day it'll be at R, the next day A, then M, and will fluctuate a little whenever accelerating and decelerating. Not to mention my lights dim like crazy when I play my stereo, and I never had this issue on my old alternator.

So is this the alternator they put in my car?

One thing you should know is that your oil gauge is not in fact a gauge. It is more like a dummy light. There are a few threads on this, but your oil pressure sending unit is just a switch.

This thread will give you a little detail and explain how to switch in a REAL pressure sending unit. http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=14894 If you think your truck is getting insufficient oil pressure, have someone hook up a mechanical gauge and test it.

Check your wiring to your alternator and to your battery though, you may have a loose connection.
