I have started to realize that I am never really happy with what I have and that I always want something improved or different once I get it the way I thought that I had wanted it. On that note, I have become a little more power crazy than I was at first when regarding my MTX 10" sub and my MTX Thunder 152 amp. Originally I just wanted to make my system a lot louder and more powerful since I was primarily listening to DMB. Now I have been "expanding my horizons" and listening to more rap music with heavy bass. I was wondering why I don't really hear or feel the bass until the volume control on my headunit is at about 7. Until it hits 7 it was as if I didn't even add a sub since it sounds the same. The max that I can go up to is about 13 before the sound gets distorted and such. Is my sub blown? Are my controls on the sub messed up or what is wrong? I think that my gain control on the amp is kinda messed up as well as the fader option. I just need help and I am confused. To help diagnose the problem here are my headunit settings for my Pioneer 4100:
Fie: 0
Sla: +2
Fader: -2 (More in the Back)
Balance: 0
Lows: +1 Mid: +3 Highs: +3
Loud: High (Do you all play on high??)

Please help...

Turn the SLA to 0 and fade to 0. Also my Loudness is at mid not high. Check your gains.

I think my gain is messed up and that is why I am wondering if there is a problem with the amp. In the manual it clearly states to turn the right gain until you are happy with the output and then turn the left to the same angle as the right. However, this is backwards. I can't tell a noticeable difference unless I turn the right gain first and then match the left. (Maybe I am backwards here, but in any event what I do is totally opposite the book so maybe my example is wrong). It is totally backwards from the manual and it confuses me. Also, the only other control on the amp is the fader button and that doesnt seem to make a difference where I put it so it is in the middle someplace. Lastly, what does SLA even mean? Thanks again guys...

The SLA basically adjusts the volume of your music when you are playing a CD. I usually have my SLA around -2 because when I play a CD the volume seems to go up. The SLA allows you to adjust the CD volume so that when you go from listening to the radio to listening to a CD the volume doesn't change dramatically. 2 SLA points equals 1 volume point.
