Sorry if this has been asked before, I used search but was not able to find the answer...

I installed a dashcam and have a cigarette lighter hub with a few USB devices. What I've noticed is that the dashcam and whatever is plugged into the cigarette lighter stays powered on.

I will be away from the explorer for about 2 or 3 weeks, just wondering if the explorer has a mechanism where it will cut power eventually to the cigarette lighter, etc. if it senses it is getting to low to start the vehicle? Or will it continue to drain the battery to 0 leaving me to jump start the vehicle?

I have a '13 XLT

Power to the cigar lighter will go away when the battery dies.

Is this the truth?
It's impossible for us to know, with so little detail from you. WHERE is this cigarette lighter socket? Is it really a lighter socket, or is it a power point? Which fuse is it on?
This is really a design flaw...
What flaw do you think the designers should have avoided? They couldn't know if you were gonna plug something in & leave it turned on for weeks without keeping the battery charged. That's operator error - not a design flaw. Historically, Ford vehicles have usually been designed with always-on power sockets, so they're not flaws. That's just the way Ford builds them.
