Pulled up to a 10 inch curb, was going to go over it. locked the hubs, 4wd, pulled up to it and let out the clutch. First time killed the engine, 2nd time with more rpm I smoked the clutch and didn't go anywhere. I've got 31inch tires. Is this a sign that the clutch is dying or is it just the fact that I couldn't get over it? I didn't put it in low range, probably should have.

I'm not sure if you should have been able to go over the 10" curb, but I know how you can test your clutch. Try flooring it in any gear and if the vehicle revs but doesn't really move, then the clutch is slipping, and its a matter of time before it goes. I know its not a scientific way to test, but its always worked for me.

i think i read on this site somewhere that if you put it in 5th gear (from a stand still/level ground) and let out the clutch (like normal) if the truck tries to move and the engine bogs down then good, if it just revs like nothing there then you need a clutch.

sorry for the long sentence, it has been a long day.
