So, some members and admins think that some of us over react to problems that we have on our cars and I'm just curious if this falls into that overreaction. On other threads i posted that i got the a-pillar fix but they just replaced one side and siliconed the other and i was pissed to say the least.... Well now it is already coming apart and I'm more pissed!!! what do you think, am i still over reacting? Keep in mind I've been to the dealer 3 times already for this truck (an hour away) and last time they had it for 3 days to fix 4 TSB's but only did two (the a-pillar and greasy windows that are greasy once again!) and blew smoke up my a$$ for the other 2 (couldn't reproduce brake squeal, and temp of heat was adjusted they said but nothing replaced and it still goes cold sometimes..)

Go to a different dealer. There's got to be at least a dozen Ford dealers you pass in an hour drive in central NJ. Maybe you'll get better service.

WTF? No you are not overreacting. That A-pillar fix is a piss-poor job :thumbdwn:

thats what i'm going to do now. The only reason i keep going to them is cause a relative works for them and i felt obligated, but now i am going to start going to a great dealer 15 min from my house..... i just feel bad but i have to do whats better for me and thats NOT driving an hour to get service like this.... They are a great dealer, just some employees in service that try to shortcut maybe.....

I don't think so. I was firmly on the side of "nitpick stuff, first model, go through the TSB's" etc, etc... But now, I really don't think so.

Since a lot of posts are now failing to show up again on the 2011 forum, I'll post these, and leave it at that. Since we've decided not to get one, I'll let the '11+ owners post up, so I can stop beating my bald head on the wall in the '11+ subforums. Farewell address I guess. :)

So, to me- here are my thoughts:

A-pillars: The geometry and aerodynamics are obviously an issue when the attachment angles and fastener styles are taken into account. Lots of vehicles have snap on a-pillar trim. Come up with a style of fastener that will hold it in place, or body adhesive something on.

A-pillars: Using piano black is nice, but it scratches when you breathe on it. Use something else, and for sure, not tape. Unless you give me a roll of it that I can replace myself. :)

MFT: Why are other manufacturers having much better luck with their infotainment systems? Scrap flash, and rebuild it. It's not rocket science.

Streaky windows: Come on- really? I've never had a new vehicle do that, whatever you started using on this one, just stop using it. Get a new vendor, use "old design" dew wipes, different glass, anything- this is such a stupid simple problem to fix, it's ridiculous. No, ordering new parts made out of the same crap will not stop the streaking. Gee- there's a newsflash.

Air dam: Dude- tighten them. Use loctite. Use different fasteners. Really?!?

Streaky HID lenses: New vendor who wears gloves. Solved.

Cooling fans: Whatever range of vehicles had the old units, just replace them. All of them.

Squealing brakes: I've had new pads squeal for a few hundred miles, then quiet up. If they are still squealing after a thou or something- replace them.

It's like the dealers (and Ford to some extent) think that people enjoy driving a Kia Rio rental for 3 days while your Ex is in the shop. Guess what- it's a PITA, and no, nobody would rather deal with service issues than NOT deal with service issues.

Just fix them- as a shareholder, I consider the Ex release to be the most bungled up, football-kicked-through-the-endzone mess I've seen on a new vehicle. It hurts my stock value, because it could have been higher. Instead, the MFT debacle dropped quality ratings, and the constant try-to-get-out-of-the-mess-for-as-little-as-we-can thinking is doing Ford's reputation no favors.

I'm a Ford guy- if I buy a vehicle, it'll be a Ford. I've owned, what- 35 of them? But- that launch and the poor response is why we just bought an Escape, and honestly- I don't see us buying an Ex anytime soon. Sure, most of them are probably fine, and they are really nice vehicles- but I'm not taking that risk with a $40k+ commitment, and I don't trust the engineering yet to make a long-term commitment.

contact one of the Ford customer service reps on here regarding this. They'll gladly help you with your claim.

*sigh* i really hope that doesn't happen to mine since i also had the "silicone sealant fix"

Unbelievable!

Going to get mine fixed on Thursday... getting more nervous now

Nope. You're not over reacting. You have valid problems as shown in your picture. Someone did a piss poor job of fixing it and should be held accountable for the work.

Maybe it came loose because you are pulling up on it :D

Just curious what is the dealership that you're having the poor service at?

Get a different dealer, this one is not good. They like dentists, younave to find the one that works for u

so i just got back from dealer and they replaced the drivers a-pillar piece without a problem, so i am happy!!!! BUT, as far as the MFT update, they didn't do anything and this is what they said: The only reason some of the earlier builds need to go to the dealer is if you NEVER had an update from the dealer before. Since my MFT was updated to 2.11 from a dealer las time, they said i didn't need it this time and they would have just done the same update as i did on my own. Can anyone confirm if this is true? I'm going to post this on other threads too but thought i would mention it here too.....

I don't think so. The main MFT thread posts a long communication from Ford to their dealers and specifically states that some early Explorers need a complete reflash.

Dealer is full of crap. Mine had been updated to 2.11 by the dealer and they did the full update on mine and gave me a nav card with zero problems or hassles.

Amazing how bad some of these dealerships are. :thumbdwn:
