I have a 2004 XLT and it seems like everytime I turn the wwheel hard one direction or the other there is a loud bang when I start to move? Does anyone know the cause and fix for this problem??

Sounds like your 4WD is not dis-engaging causing binding and the bang. I think there was a problem with the 2004s and the 4WD computer. It might need replacing. There are others here that know more about it hopefully one of them will chime in.

Check this

You might want to check your CV joints. If for some reason there is a prob with one, you will have a popping sound radiate from the front end upon turning in a particular direction. These are replaceable as a complete assembly. I do have to say though that this is only something to look at, but being that this is such a new vehicle, I would think that this is not probable unless you have done some 4 wheeling recently, which could cause a problem there sometimes. PS - I just fixed a problem I have had for 4 years!!! No one could find a fix!! I fixed it yesterday. FINALLY! So I know how frustrating it can be. Again, GOOD LUCK!!!
