Yeah... I have absolutely no idea what people are saying about amp bypass kits...

I bought an HU wiring kit and I installed that. The HU was running great but the speakers didn't get any sound. I had to connect the remote turn on wire to get some sound out of the thing. So now I'm just wondering what exactly do I have to do to do an amp bypass?

I read from past posts that the amp is behind the right passenger side panel. Is there anything I have to do physically to this amp or do I even have to take off this panel? If I need to what is the technique to take the panel off, what tools do I need and how long with procedure takes. Also where do I mount the bypass kit and where would I go about connecting it to the deck and wiring harness?

I'd really appreciate if somebody could just run me through step by step what they had to do and the general connections, taking panels off, precautions, etc...

I don't want to do anything to end up burning down my X.

The amp bypass kit is basically a reallly long harness that goes from the HU to the amp in the cargo compartment.

It is 3 in the morning, so I'll try to list most of it, but be quick:

To take off the panel you'll need to take off all the plastic pins, self tapping screws into the floorpan, rear seat belt mount (hardest one, Torx 50 bit), clothes hook, and a few more screws. It' tedious but not hard. Then plug one end of the harness into it's places by the amp. Run the harness behind the panel, under the door sill plate (easy to take off), behind the passenger kickpanel (easy to take off), up behind the glove box (easy to swing down) then plug the other ends into the other spots.

There shouldn't be much splicing involved, it should just plug into various harnesses.

The amp bypass kit from Crutchfield comes with very detailed instructions, including how to take off that panel.

I posted the color code in the Audio forum.
