I need some more advise from the audio gurus….

I have decided to mount a Lightning Bolt 50 w x 2 amp under the rear passenger side seat.

Questions:

(1) Can I screw the amp directly to the floor?
(2) Should it be mounted on “something”?
(3) What about heat; the company makes a cooling fan, should I get it?

Thanks….

Yes, you can mount the amp straight to the floor, just make sure the screws are biting a solid surface, you wanna have it fastened down tight (after I install one I literally try to rip it off... If it comes off I did a 1/2-assed job). I have nightmares about a buddy of mine that had to Kicker 10's and a Kicker amp just tossed in the backseat of an S-10, everytime you went around a turn it would all slide across the floor.

You may wanna get a cooling fan, just to be safe. I don't know how much airspace you have under the backseats (I don't have any in my Sport), but cooler operating temperatures will increase the amps life.

Just a note:

Place your amp under the seat where you are going to mount it, then fold the seat forward all the way and observe if it clears the amp. Better to find out now then after drilling holes.
