Well, i have 2 kappa perfects..and i can tell they want more power.. I have the referance 611a as of now, but am looking to upgrade. I want about 1000- 1400watts rms (at 2ohms). I like the infinity referance series, 1211a, but it is pricey. I was just wondering what some of you guys would recommend with that kind of power. I have a price cap at about 300.

Thanks

HIFONICS BX1605D CLASS D AMP 1600 WATT * NEW

RMS Power Rating: 1100 watts x 1 chan. @ 2 Ohms

$224 Shipped

Hifoniks is a great brand, highly trustable. This amp will have those subs BANGIN!!

Ive heard that the older model Brutus series didnt put out as much power as they said they did..any one have issues like this, or hear about it?

I don't think they do either. But then again...You get what you pay for. You might have a hard time finding a true wattage amplifier putting out around 1,000 watts for under 300 dollars.

i can get an infinity 1211a for about 275 shipped and thats putting out 1300watts RMS..i think infinity lives up to their claims.. and so does JBL (in that family)

Good luck with that being true wattage.

well what would you say those two amps are putting out? (not in a smartass way at all) just wondering what they are really throwing out

thts true...the brutus series is a bit disappointing. the XX series is quite good though

my vote goes for a JBL 1201.1 cant go wrong there

these are dual 2 ohm subs?

single 4 ohm

Wagonized, what about the JBL BP 1200.1?

I think JBL is good to go. I had a bad experience with the Infinity. I installed a nice Polk Audio 12 in my friends Golf and had a nice Infinity amp on it. I told him that is was gonna slam and this and that and it really just dissappointed me. I thought it was gonna work wonders. The amp just really under powered the sub. And what makes it worse is that is was a sub amp package from a local car audio shop. We ended up throwing a Rockford amp on there.

I think that infinity amp at best will do 900 rms bridged.

i have all Hifonics amps and love em,great for the price

theres a guy on sounddomain whos got a jbl 1200.1 for 225 shipped. He says its barely been used. Is this a good buy?

Go for it.

If it wasn't for your 300 cap i would say Rockford Fosgate. They under rate their amps significantly. I have a bd500 (500 watts) and it tested with documentation from Fosgate at 715 watts.... Just a thought.

Which is why I said you get what you pay for.

I have been using it for about 2 years but it is in 100% working order. I dont believe there is a warranty but I purchased it at Audio Electronics here in Indianapolis for $999.

Wagonized, what about the JBL BP 1200.1?

thats a great amp too. Funny you mention it right when I was getting into car audio like 6 years ago the hot bang for your buck setup was a 1200.1 and 2 perfect 12s.

Even when the 1200.1s were new there were available on ebay for $280 usd

And the 1200.1s will also run at 1 ohm unlike the 1201.1 which doesnt seem to like it as much.

To infinity's credit - they are CEA rated, so you have a ballpark figure of what you are getting there.

I'd reccommend a Kicker KX1200.1 - you'll get more than 1200 out of it, you get a birsheet showing what the amp WILL DO, it's rated at 2 ohms perfect for your single 4 ohm subs wired parallel. A lot of em on ebay below $300.

or a ZX1000.1 - like here is much like the 1200.1 with a tad less wattage, and is the newer model. http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-ZX1000-1...5QQihZ015QQcategoryZ79829QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
