Hi, I was wondering what you guys reccomendations for amplifiers are. Right now I have a 760 watt sony amp that is a flat out piece of ****. It supposedly puts out 150W per channel, but my friend has an amp with 75W per channel and his hits a hell of a lot harder. Also this amp has a problem with overheating for no damn reason. It is winter and it overheats. I was thinking about a Kenwood, claion, phoenix gold, maybe even memphis. Oh and my subs are Boston Competions. I am also thinking about getting a cap, any advice on size and brand. I was thinking about 1 farad, not sure of brand though. Also I was thinking about doing a custom amp rack/enclosure that includes using some neon lights, anybody have any pics of custom setups. Thanks I would really appreciate any advice.

Orion, Audiobahn, Kicker, US Amps, Earthquake...
they are all great amps. they are underrated and provide clean power. i doubt you'll ever have a problem with heat with any of these.

I have considered Audiobahn but I just cannot find any local dealers that supply them. I would have to order them from a catalog or something. I do not like ordering off the internet, so that option is out. Also, can you reccomend which model.I want a two channel that puts between 100 and 150 watts per channel.

the Audiobahn A2401X (2001 model. the 2002 is the A2401Q. they are the same thing) will work for you. it's rated at 100 X 2 @ 4 ohms, but it'll put out more than that in your car.

You mentioned you wanted a cap, and that you don't like ordering off the internet, BUT on ebay you can get a brand new very nice 1 farad 1000 watt PPI cap for $105. I just bought one and it is working very well.

caps are the one thing where brand doesn't really matter. Some installers told me all caps are made by the same company, just branded by different companies. I don't trust them though, all though why would he be trying to sell me something cheaper... hmmm. Anyway, I have a lightning audio bolt 1 farad cap that I got on ebay for $50. It works amazingly well, and just for a test i switched in a rockford fosgate cap and I saw no difference.

well, there are a lot of different caps. but we'll just stick with the 1 farad caps for now....

most cheaper caps are 16volt capacitors with a 20 volt surge. some are 20 volt with 24 volt surge. mine is a 24 volt cap with 30 volt surge. it's an Audiobahn cap. you can buy one from a local shop for around $100 or get it off ebay for about $70-80.

thanks for the info. I found a dealer close to me, so I will ride out there saturday and take a look at what he has. I searched the internet about audiobahn and they seem to be pretty popular. I will probably go ahead and get a audiobahn cap as well. Thanks.
