Hi,

I could not locate the wire for "Amp /antenna turn on" on 99 Explorer.

What should I use to turn my amp on?

Thank You.

Find a live wire when the key is in the start position AND the accessory position.

Although, I read somewhere that you might experience a POP noice when you turn on your radio and if this occurs you might need a delayed power source.

I have mine wired to a live wire when the key is on and I do not have any pop noise.

hope this helps you..

The only thing I could find was a +5V turn-on for the factory amp. Rather than splice into the wire and hook up a 5V relay to control a 12V source, I just used a 12V signal from the accessory. I ran it through my center console through a switch so that I could turn off the amp (which only drives my subwoofer) with the engine running should the need arrise (and it has).

Thank You.
I will use the accesory+switch approach.

I'm pretty sure the factory amp turn on is the blue wire.

There is no blue wire in 99.
I think the wiring changed in 99?

The remote turn on for the amplifier in '97 (ASYS ON) is a light green wire with a black stripe. There is also what is called a "starter signal" that is red with a light blue stripe but it doesn't come from the radio. There is a dark blue wire on the radio but itis for the "logic mute".
