amsoil switch ???

i was talking to someone here at work about his switch to amsoil and he was talking about a cleaning fluid that he had to put in after draining his oil. he then had to drive around for a bit and then come back and do the oil change. is this required? i've been putting only synthetic oil in my truck since i've owned it, whether it be mobil1 or valvoline.

secondly, i called the local quick change shop that uses amsoil. they priced me at $50 for lube, oil and filter. that seems pretty good compared to buying the stuff retail.

thirdly and finally, the oil change shop said that they don't use the amsoil filter, but another brand that started with an "H". i don't remember the name, but they claimed that it was the same?

You do not need to add anything when changing oils, especially if you were using synthetic before....

You do not need to use any "snake oil" when changing to Amsoil or any other oil, regular or sunthetic.

I would use ONLY one of the following oil filters: Amsoil, KJ & N or Mobil 1.

What they were talking about is the Amsoil Engine FLush. What you do is remove the filter and put on a cheap temporary filter. Pour in the Engine Flush and let the engine idle high for about 20 minutes. THen draint he oil and remove the temporary filter. Install good filter and pour in the oil. Basically it just cleans off all the deposts and otehr built up cap, etc. that's in the engine. It's not necessary, but can help a bit if your engine is older or if you haven't been using synthetic the whole time.

I just did this, and so far I've noticed that my oil pressure went from 45 psi before, to 50 psi after. Just filled up my first tank since the flush, so no numbers on milage yet.

Hastings makes Amsoil Filters. Hastings have been around for a long time. I've been using them exclusively since the 70's. Best filter made in my opinion. They don't use paper as the filtration media. They used to use cotton seed fibers for filtration. I believe it is a composite media....but still the best.
