An Interesting Problem I had

So I finally figured out why my sound hasn't been the best, my rear door speaker was completely out. Yes, I'm an idiot and should have identified it earlier but I didnt. So I brought it into the local audio shop, had them check it out, simple problem- the wires shook loose. good enough, but while testing it I noticed something, a distortion, not like a blown speaker, but like something was interfering with the sound. Got them to take off the door panel again and take a look, and I guess the speaker wire was hitting my dynamat, and basically trying to turn my whole door into the speaker, so they wrapped them with tape and seperated them so they wouldnt touch, problem fixed and i've got crystal clear sound. Anyone else ever run into this problem?

so the wire was basically shorting itself out on the dynamat? sounds actually pretty normal for wires to short themselves out......

I had a similar thing happen when my friend wired his first cd player and didn't have connercters or electrical tape so you decided to use a little left over dynamat xtreme to sort of act as electrical tape and he didn't realize that it was a conducter so the wires constantly shorted out. i didn't say anything because it was his first try, but it did actually work for a short time despite the shorting out.

It is all education man. Heck you spelled every thing correctly in your post. An idiot would need help turning on the computer.

Hell I ran heavier guage wires for my 6x9s in the rear doors (got a pair of Kicker Components in the stock location), the first time someone ran the window all the way down it shorted out the power windows.

I kinda thought the wires were a little too close to the mechanism, but...

Hadda reroute the window wires when I put in the 6x9s. Just a matter of time, but it was a learning experience!

No matter how late at night it is- waste the extra time to do what you know you gotta do!

They fixed it for free, but I would like to learn how to take off the door panels. I have a basic idea on how to do it, but more or less i'm afraid to bust something by prying them off. Bad experience- working on a talon, a buddy and I took off the door panels... never did get them back on!

taking off the door panels is real simple, just get a flat head screw driver and insert it between the panel and the door, and work yourself down, prying the panel off. make sure the little plastic things holding the panel are in the panel when you take it off, that way you can just push them back in. oh yea, the top of the panels require a bit of pulling and lifting, dont worry, you wont break anything. that help at all?

I have also seen the little clips at Auto Zone. So if you get frustrated and destroy one pulling it out, don't fret, you can get another and they are fairly cheap..

They also have a tool for pulling the panels that makes it a little easier.

Get as close as possible before prying...they'll pop in better shape.

And- when you put'em back on...line them up cause they bend easy.
