Sorry, I've looked at lots of posts re this but not finding an answer. I replaced psgr side lower ball joint, so I removed the ABS sensor from it's hole. Now everything is back together and only when I am coming close to stoping, down to around 5-10mph, the pedal pulsates and i can hear what sounds like the abs servo, or motor, whatever it has. It does not do this at higher speeds. Even If i start braking heavily from, oh say, 50 and maintain steady brake pressure, it's smooth, until just about when the truck stops. I have never had this happen on this truck until today. I did remove the fuse and it quit until i reinstalled it. Think there's any chance it will help to reinstall the sensor? I took great effort to clean the sensor and it's intallation hole well. Thanks

I am having a similar problem right now. Low speed light braking, ABS engages, but not all the time. It is related to front sensors on my X.

Did you get any debris inside the hub when you removed the sensor? If any metal filings are stuck to the tone ring or sensor itself it will give a false wheel speed reading. Also, the distance between the sensor and the tone ring itself is critical so make sure the sensor and hub mating faces were clean when you reinstalled.

When you remove the ABS system fuse, the ABS system is no longer active and will act like 'normal' brakes. When the ABS light comes on, the system shuts down as well.

It may help in a diagnosis.

Thanks. I got it fixed. Took it back out, covered the hole and cleaned the area down to nice shiny metal, sprayed sensor with electrical cleaner and cranked it down TIGHT. Problem solved :)
