I have been reading all over the boards lately, but I am not great with making repairs and I wanted to see if anyone else could help me diagnose this problem.

My driver side door will not lock with the remote. The remote locks all of the doors on my car (except for the driver side). The horn beeps and everything. I have even replaced the battery in the remote to make sure that it is not faulty.

I honestly didn't even know there was a problem until one night I had locked my car with the remote and happened to walk by and pull on the handle and the door opened. I was shocked since I just assumed that everything was locked. It could have been like this for a while. I was confused since I thought the alarm would sound on the car since the door opened when the car alarm was set.

Anyway, I basically have to use the key remote to lock all of the doors. And, then I have to put the key in the driver side door to lock in manually. It is a real pain, and I am curious if this is the actuator, the spring, etc.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

And of all doors too! What a pain!

Yea, I am seeing signs of my rear/passenger door doing this too. Just noticed last night, but it only happens every once in a while. Just like the window on the same door.

I'll keep an eye on this to see what new information is given. Good luck none of the less.

Doo lock problem

It is possible if not probable that the power door lock actuator for that door is no good no more. Does it lock with the doorlock button on the panel?

Yes, the door lock will turn from the inside of the car. It is not stuck. I can manually lock the door from the inside with my hand.

Typically, I use the remote to lock all of the other car doors, and then I lock the driver side door manually with my key. So it is kind of like a two step process to lock ALL of the doors.

How much does the actuator usually cost? I have a friend who works on cars so maybe I can go to the FORD dealership to buy the part and then have him install it.

Get your friend to check the actuator out to see if it is shot.Which it probably is.
Here is the quote from Alldata:

Front Lock Actuator

2-Door
6L2Z78218A42AA $48.33

4-Door
YW7Z54218A42A $80.70

So it turns out that I CANNOT lock or unlock the driver side door from inside the car. I can only lock or unlock the driver side door using the key in the door.

The remote doesn't control it and the door lock on the inside of the car will not control it.

Do you think that this means it is definitely the actuator on the driver side door?

I called the local ford dealership and the part is $67. I just want to be sure before I pick it up.
