I hate to do this but I can't find where my RAP mod is for my key code.

I just bought an 04 Explorer XLT. It is not the sport model, or the Sport Trac model... I have seen numerous posts on where it should be, but can't seem to find one that helps me with my 2004 4 door XLT. It is not in the passenger side C pillar (the only thing there is the Tire Air Pressure Module). When I looked in the C pillar, I pulled back the weather stripping and popped out the plastic around the column (where the seat belt goes through). Else where it says it could be in the dash behind the airbag, my understanding is that it is only there in the Sport models and Rangers, not my model. Also, I know it is not in the back where the spare tire kit is like in the 2nd gen models.

I have also looked all around the lift gate in the back for a sticker that may have been placed there. No such luck.

Thanks for the help...

You could cheat and call the Ford dealer's service department and give them your VIN, and they should be able to provide you with that code. You may have to give them proof of ownership, which is as easy as bringing in or faxing a copy of your title/registration to them.

I know that the Security module with the code is behind the lower trim panel on the passenger side C pillar in the '02 XLTs because I've looked at mine. It's suppose to be there on the '04 XLTs as well. See post #3 in this thread: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=194418 where user cgriff said that the Security Module and Tire Pressure Module were both there in his '04. Ummm, are you sure yours has the keyless touchpad:)?

got it. I didn't realize it was in the lower part of the pillar. I saw the air pressure module at the top, and thought that was the only one. The funny thing is, I peaked down and saw the other one, but thought that was where the seat belt coiled into. After you reaffirmed it was down there, I pulled the lower part of the pillar back further and found it.

Thanks for the help, and patience.

you don't have to removed the entire panel, use a mirror to get the code. although it may look backward, write it down as you see the reflection, then your paper to a mirror, and wa la, you've got your code.
