So I am working on a friends's 2000 explorer with 100,000 miles. I researched this forum before I did anything. The original problem she had was the od light came on and the tranny would not downshift. I cleared the codes(without reading, woops) and the tranny downshifted but then did the shift flare. I changed the fluid and adjusted the bands and had no luck.
After all that, I rebuilt the valve body, installed the ford tsb kit, installed the superior shift kit, and replaced the epc soilenoid. Put her back together and worked fine for maybe ten miles then......od light blinky blinky!
Now tranny has a 1-2 shift flare, but not all the time. After about ten miles the od light starts blinking and tranny wont downshift. Pull over and turn it off and everything back to normal till the next ten miles. I pulled the code and think it was 733. I am not sure on the number of the code but I am sure it said INCORRECT 3RD GEAR RATIO.
I have researched the forum before I posted this so it wouldn't be another duplicate post. Other than testing the solenoids, which I forgot to do, I am stumped. Anyone know what that code means or what else I can do? Thanks, :thumbdwn:

We have sometimes when the Ford tsb didn't fix the problem had to replace the valvebody to fix. Depending on how long it was slipping you may have burnt some clutches.

i wouldnt think it is the clutches because it shifts fine manually. Right?
