I have searched the threads here and i have what seems to be a little bit of a different problem then most had.
Little back ground....01 Explorer Sport, 160k, loaded accept leather.
Bought 4 years ago with 80k, around 95k the OD light was blinking and it would shift hard, wouldn't shift into 4th or OD. Unless i shut the car off and started to go again and staying on the gas until it shifted into 4th. Took it to a local tranny guy and he did a rebuild including a new converter. 1200 bucks later and a 1 yr warranty and it was good to go.
Jump ahead 2 yrs and 60k more and...sure enuff exact same problem...took it back and 600 bucks later it was fixed. No warranty this time!
Jump ahead 3 months and 10k more....same damn thing!
I was told the 1st and 2nd time that it was some servo that controls Reverse, 4th, and 5th gears. The 1st time it happened, it slipped in reverse...not the 2nd time or this time though.
Am I being bent over by this guy or is it something as simple as a TPS that i read other people have tried and worked?
I hate to get rid of the car because it runs like a top, leaks no oil, burns no oil, works great in the snow.
Any input you guys and ladies could give me would be great!
