Hey folks I have one more question about switching to synthetic oils and atf. After calling several transmission shops I have found that they all are using amsoil oil as the atf. Well what I'm thinkins is to switch all the fluids over to the same manufacturer. So my question is which has the better track record Amsoil or Mobil one?

Amsoil is a group V synthetic POA (true synthetic) (Awesome oil)

Mobil1 one is on the debate block on its validity as a group IV anymore, more leaning to group III. (still a great oil)

Go for the Amsoil it is worth it.

I've run both in my other truck. Noticed no difference really. I haven't had them lab tested, but I ususally run them around 10,000 KM and have found them to look the same after the same mileage. I think you can get Mobil 1 for a lot cheaper at Walmart.
Currently I have Amsoil in my other truck but next change will prolly go with Mobil 1 if it's on sale. Never seen Amsoil on sale.
I think they're comparable - as for the claim of 20,000 miles or 1 year oil change...not convinced on that yet.

You really cannot tell anything about an oil's useful life by its appearance. UOA is essential.

I second that!

I don't think its safe to just go the distance like that. I haven't done a UOA yet, still sitting on desk since Tuesday. But have changed the filter and topped off my oil when on trips and hitting a oil interval 3K or so that I feel would have needed analysis. I did that to make sure my oil has the necessary additives to keep it viable ( even if it still was was fine). I would never just go that distance and not worry about it.

ya....i do the same...change the filter at 5K Km's, then top up with fresh oil, then do a full change at 10K Km's. I'm pretty sure the oils safe for longer but I don't chance it. I run all highway miles, no dust, no towing, all smooth sailing.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the come back.

Any oil seriously but i use "Mister Transmission" atf oil its a canadian brand and its good enough. No need to change to synthetic sincrly if you change your oil at the 60 000 kilometres. I knoew thats its normally suggested more than that but i had no tranny problems doing it.
