- 96 XLT
So I have been reading and I haven't seen any posts with this question on it... so here goes.
I have a 96 XLT with the 4 liter. Anyway, I am having what I think is a transmission problem.
When put my truck in reverse after it has been sitting for a while (overnight or a couple of hours sometimes) it sometimes takes several seconds for it to actualy engage.
If I am on a hill the tranny will not hold the X in place with out application of the brake.
Occational upon shifting from park to Drive or Reverse the tanny will clunk.
I think I am having one more symptom of a tranny problem (although it might be a IAC problem). When I am sitting still the truck hesitates a bit, but the RPMs appear not to move.
Then I could be crusing at 40 mphs and it will do the same thing (steady gas and RPMs but the engine feels like it is going to stall and there is a noticable loss of power).
Once this problem starts you can almost count 9 seconds between each "almost stall"...like clock work.
Thank you in advance. I hope that someone knows for sure about this problem.
