Ok, Id like some advice on this one. I have a 92 explorer, and it has 175k on it. Im worried that anytime now, my transmission (a4ld) is going to crap out on me.

I read the thread on rebuilding the a4ld, and I think id like to try that. What I would like to know is where to find a transmission that needs rebuilt. I can find plenty of new and used ones online, but im haveing trouble finding one that doesnt work.

Any suggestions?

Also, what should I try and find out about the transmission, as far as what problems it had, and if it was driven for a while with problems, etc. Id really like it if I could reuse most of the parts inside.

Thanks,
Pat

Pat... ideally you would want one that was, far as you know, in operating condition when it was junked. Under 100,000 miles would also be nice. Best year would be 1994. Certain hard parts are probably best replaced as a precaution against future failure in any event.
