It was snowing real bad today so I turned the manual hubs just in case I needed the 4 wheel drive. I can hear a noise from the drivers front wheel that sounds like something is wobbling in there. I don't think it is the CV joint as it is not a click like when they are worn on corners. Could this be a bearing? I parked it after the trip--20 miles and could smell either tranny fluid or gear oil near that wheel. The noise goes away with the hubs turned off and there is no leakage I can see. Any Ideas? Hot bearing? Thanks.

Sounds like you were burning up a hub.

Sorry i didn't answer sooner was gone all day--drove it 800kms. What would be gone in the hub and how do I look? Itseems fine with the hubs off. I just want to get this stuff fixed so I can trust it on the road.
PS--The EX is much better on gas at 85MPH>
