Hello Guys. I'm personally a Jeep guy and hold nothing against Explorers (Actually I want your rear axles :) )

Anyways my girlfriends mom has a 95+ Explorer with a power antenna and she left it up in the car wash. Long story short it is ruined. Since her husband has passed I do a lot of the handy work for her and she called on me for this job. I looked at it about 5 weeks ago and had no clue how to get into the area where it would be replaced. So I just pulled the shaft out (it was making a horrible noise when ever it was supposed to more) and we checked if the reception was still working. It sounded perfect on every station so "problem solved." However as of recently she has decided to sell the vehicle, so I have been called in to fix the antenna again. This is where I call on you guys. Here are my questions:

1) How do you even get to the antenna? On my Cherokee you have to take off the front tire and then go in through the wheelwell. But I don' t want to go yanking on someone elses vehicle.

2) If I can find a power antenna at the boneyard I will use that otherwise, what alternatives to I have in terms of a manual antenna. When I searched for info I found a few short rubber antennas and those would work great so any info is appreciated.

Thanks all!
