can anyone please help i just switch the engine out of a 2004 ranger in to a 99 explorer sport. the problem i have is the antitheaft keeps if from running if i run the old pcm it runs but the pcm from the 2004 won't let the antitheaft start the vechile any help in this matter would be greatly appreicated the truck runs fine with the old pcm but it is not made for the engine and i would prefer to run the new pcm if it is possible as the old engine is a push rod and the new engine is not and i feel it would run just a little bit better with the right pcm

You would need to take the rig to Ford and have the ECU flashed or you can contact Henson Performance and order a custom tune & tuner with the PATS disabled.

Your 99 has a PATS module dedicated to reading the key, and allowing the start. The 04 controls it from the PCM and has a sensor on the ignition cylinder to read the key. You might need some more parts from the donor vehicle to make this work. Or send it to Henson like Blee said.

You can turn off pats in with a custom tune as per previous post statements. I turn this off for customers on a regular basis. -j
