My girlfriends 2002 Explorer's anti-theft goes off for no apparent reason (horn honks, lights blink, etc) usually at night. After I fumble out of bed, find the keys and hit buttons on the fob it stops. Why is this happening? is there a way to adjust it? Can I just disable the thing? It is only the alarm part that is malfunctioning. It starts and runs just fine. The only other issue is that her door ajar light is always illuminated while driving. Can anyone help??? I need my sleep!!

You might want to fix that door ajar light first, most likely its a stuck limit switch in the door latch. Sometimes if you soak the latch with lube it will fix the problem. That is the most likely reason for the alarm going off, if the alarm is set with one of the doors open it will go off after a few hours.

Thanks for the reply!

Real quick which part of the door do I hit with lube? Is it the slot on the side that makes contact with the striker?

Ya inside the latch is an integrated micro switch, when it gets dirty it will stick and wd-40 works great as a cleaning agent, but not so well as a lube.
