So for the past two mornings antifreeze has been leaking from somewhere onto my driveway.

3 nights ago I got my oil changed, and I noticed they added some coolant to the reserve tank.

the very next morning my mother said my antifreeze was leaking. I drove to work, and when i looked at it there was no more leaking. 8 hours later after work..still no leaking..

This morning I came outside and didn't notice anything. I started my truck and cranked up the heat and went back inside for about 5-10 minutes. WHen I came back out..sure enough there was a little stream of green on the street and I could see it dripping.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Is it coming from the passenger side? If so, its probably the heater control valve.

Here is a picture of what it looks like.

im not sure where its coming from. Right now i don't have a bumper on due to an accident and Im waiting for some parts. But its not a direct drip down. Its definitley running along things until it actually does drip. I haven't been able to really get a look b/c when it happens I am in my work clothes and I can't really get underneath to check it out..

I will check that though...is it easy to see/fix?

very easy, it has a couple hoses, and one vacuum line. Right up on top close to the firewall on the passenger side. If you pop the hood, and it doesnt appear to be leaking, take off the vacuum line, see if the plunger moves, and starts leaking.

ok..I will try and see what I can do. Sounds easy. I don't have much experience working on my own **** yet....definitely going to start though...I want to start putting some money into this truck

just have some pliers to help pinch the hose clamps and get them off, other than that, it really is a piece of cake, that is if this is your problem, which I think you hope it is.

It would sound like it is...simply b/c it didn't leak until i cranked up the heat....i mean when i came out of my building after work and even at lunch time i looked...there was no leaking. If it was something else wouldn't you think it would leak pretty much all the time..and not just when the heat is on?

yeah...i think the control valve is your problem.

Something else to think about. I have had the same exact problem you described. I haven’t had time to get it fixed yet, but hear goes. Only leaks sometimes. I have had the problem for over a month now and have only caught it leaking once. My mechanic tracked it down to the front timing cover.

well so long as I can rule out head gasket I am happy..lol..i Mean the temp is ok and im assuming i can leave it as is for a bit ..not sure when id get a chance to fix it..

MY 92 does not have a control valve, It does have splices in the heater lines where a control may have been. I thought 91-94 did not use control valves, but I recently saw one for a 94, for sale on ebay.

Should my 92 have a control valve or not.
