The power seats on my '92 E.B. work in every position, except for the one I really need. The seat does'nt move far enough forward for me to reach the pedals. I have pillows to lean back against, so I can be far enough forward to reach them. I'm 5'9", so no it's not that I'm too short. It seems will go all the way back, but only moves about 2 inches going forward. I checked for blocked rails, and other obstructions. I greased the tracks, but still nothing. The motor sounds healthy, but does stop (no continous "whine") when you hold the button forward. I don't want to buy a seat from the junkyard, as they probably won't work either. My question to anyone, and everyone is, is there a way to "manually" move a power seat? Either some type of release, or maybe a bolt that can be "ratcheded"? All help is appreciated, as my wife wants me to return the pillows back to the couch!

hmmm, the last time i had out my seats of the truck when i was shampooing the carpet ,but while i had them out and especiality the drivers seat i greased up the worm drives (2 of them) and sprayed wd-40 along all moveing pieces of the seat .after i got done the performance of my drivers seat was out of this world .

the only thing i can think of is that maybe the seat motor/gear is seeing the "stop" too soon (the stop meaning there is a mechanism that tells the motor to stop running in any one direction) .

does it go and stop when you try to go forward (meaning the motor stops) ?

also maybe when it reaches all the way forward ...maybe be out of the truck and press on the bottom of the seat to push it as your pressing the forward button ( who know it may only stuck and maybe there is some debrie in there activating the " stop" function too soon .

Hi Boggs1227,
Thanks for replying. This message board stuff is new to me, so if I screw up, I apologize. I hope this goes through! Anyway, The motor on the seat does stop when I try to move the seat forward. I tried the "brut force" method of pushing on the seat while my wife held the button in the forward position. Didn't work. You mentioned a stop mechanism. I'm now wondering if it's sensing incorrectly, as you suggested. I bought the truck from a college girl with lots of hair, and the worm gears were full of hair strands (She must have played with her hair quite a bit while in the truck, or it fell out due to college stress!). Maybe some hair is still jammed in this mechanism. I'll try to see about that. Looks like the centre console needs to come out to get to it, so I have a project this weekend! Thanks for giving me your thoughts, I appreciate it. RPB

no need to remove the center console ...the seat only has 4 bolts and a electrical connector under the seat for the motor.take those 4 out and flip over the seat to access it better.

hair in there huh !? thought there must be something in there...mine when i took it out i found ink pens, lottery ticket stubs and oh yeah some stuff from the 1996 olympics ...like a dam time capsule (lol) .

Good Morning Boggs1227,
I'll try your idea. I just hope the floorpan doesn't crumble (ha ha), as the only thing holding the truck together is whats left of the paint, and those fiberglass running boards! It's a shame because it's such a beautiful running vehicle. Thanks again for your help! RPB
