I have a high mileage(430,000 km) 93 Ranger SC XLT, 2 wd with an OD auto transmission. I am wondering if there is a V8 Explorer I could buy that would allow a direct swap of motor,tranny,axles etc. I am hoping I'll be less confused if I can take it apart on one truck and put it back to gether on the other. Thanks in advance for the help.

All V8 X's were AWD. And the front axle wouldn't bolt up. You'd need to find a front axle from a 91-94 X and pull the engine, tranny, t-case, rear axle, and computer from a 95-01 V8. I think almost everything will bolt up. You'd need to weld on new spring perches since X's are SUA and Rangers are SOA. You'll need to make a new/or modify the old tranns cross member.

There are lots of V8 threads on here. Take a day/week/month and read all the info already available to you.

if i remember correctly.. the v8 explorers will swap very easily into a 98-01 ranger.. dash harnesses, motor mounts, that sort of thing. i read it somewhere on here...
