2000 Explorer XLT
Hi folks, I own a 2000 Explorer XLT with 150k on it. Has never given me any problems, only had to do basic service maintenance. I love it.

I recently had what is really my first off-road experience with it and it performed marvelously. I've been on dirt roads and washboards, but this was the first real rock and ice ride. It was in Death Valley, a place I like to visit often.

Anyway, I won't go into details other than the fact that I'd like to modify it so that it will better take the rough stuff. It's all stock at this point. I'm wondering what it will take to raise it to 12" of clearance. I'd also like to eventually add a rack and some night lights, but my first goal is to get it raised so I can take some of the roads I'm now not able to navigate due to clearance restrictions.

Any recommendations for people who can do this in the SF Bay Area? What would something like this cost? Where can I further research this so I know I'm getting what I need and not stuff I don't?

Thanks, I look forward to being a part of this group.

Welcome! So you want to add to the stock clearance to bring it to a total of 12"? First thing is, start reading through the Modified forum section for your gen EX. Sounds like you have great plans! :) Click on Forums up at the top, and then scroll down until you see your forum...
