I have a 97 Ford Explorer 5.0 awd any one have a tuner I could rent to tune my rig or even sale in trying to ball on a budget I have exhaust system flowmaster series 40, rear cat delete, a few other mods. I like how she runs now I run clear 88 octane maveric offers it now it's straight gas no ethanol or additives it's amazing the difference how much she likes it kind of scary so if you know anyone who could help me get a tune let me know
I'd like the following
Rear o2 delete
Egr delete if possible
Rev limiter upped
Speed limiter off
Re map fuel
Timing curve remap
I can't bring myself to buy a sct tuner for the full price I live in a remote area with not a lot of big city options
Thanks

Honestly, SCT is your best bet. For several reasons. Here are just a few.

There was never a good piggyback chip produced for our trucks.

An SCT device is vehicle specific, so, buying a used one is risky. They cannot be used on 2 trucks at the same time, so, renting one is out of the question.

The seller would have to change his tune file back to stock, then unlock the tuner from his vehicle. Your vehicle would have to mach his computer code exactly, which would be a rare coincidence. If you yourself don't purchase the "tuner" from SCT, you will receive little if any support.

However, it will also function as an excellent tool while being a toy, so the money is well spent.

Ahhhh I spend so much money already my wife gets mad she is like it's just a explorer but she does not under stand I see how these work I guesse everyone would share if they didn't lock it up lol what about having my exam reflashed send it in

Click the 1998 mountaineer link in my signature. I no longer have that truck, but you;ll understand when I say:

You got to pay to play. Not being a jerk, just telling it like it is.

and what you end up with will still be slow compared to the other guys.

First thing you really need will be exhaust headers. Torquemonsters used to be available, but are now scarce. You'll need to build a set, and unless you can fit in a set of long tubes you'll still be underpowered. Now go look under your hood, visualizing where these headers will fit in, notice the front diff is just where the driver side collector should be, then try to find a place to fit the collector.

and then hug your wife. she's right.

It's pretty tough to make these things into a capable off road rig but once it is done they work real well.

I've never even heard of one of these trucks being "fast" compared to what you could do with a Chevy truck, or car and the same amount of $$.

Ya true my mechanic at work told me to wait till it blows up and put a stroker in it carbureted lol would be a hell of a lot easier to super charge lol
